Pediatrics and Mom/Baby Care

Mom/Baby Care
Visits are made in the comfort of the Mom's home during the first few days after birth, when answers to questions about the birthing experience and care of the new baby are needed most.
Who is eligible?
The Maternal Child Home Health Program is available to mothers and their newborns and is reimbursed through a variety of payment sources.

Howard County Home Health and Hospice is an approved home care provider with a number of insurance companies. Click here for a current list of approved insurance companies.
Mom/Baby Care includes
  • Assess the physical status of both the mother and the newborn.
  • Offer assistance with breast-feeding/bottle-feeding questions and provide referrals.
  • Follow-up infant weight check.
  • Coordinate care with the obstetrician and/or pediatrician.
  • Offer information regarding community resources.
  • Answer questions and provide information about newborn care.
Pediatric Care includes
  • Monitoring of newborn jaundice (Hyperbilirubinemia)
  • Chemotherapy
  • IV Antibiotic therapy
  • Dressing Changes
  • Education of parents or caregivers regarding care of baby
